First Class

How does it work when I arrive?

Arrive at the studio 15 minutes before class and let the front desk know it’s your first time at SoHo Dance LA. They’ll give you a tour and welcome you in.

Do you have water or do I have to bring mine?

We work up a good sweat in class, so it’s important to hydrate. Make sure to bring a water bottle or you can purchase bottled water at our front desk.

What to wear?

Come in your favorite casual and comfortable clothes that will not hinder your movement.

Should I wear dance shoes?

Our beautiful beechwood floors were designed to be danced on with proper dance shoes. We ask that you don’t wear street shoes on our dance floors.

Do I need to create an account?

Yes. It’s important for us to know who’s dancing with us and to have your contact information. Adult dancers can create an account online, in studio, or by calling a studio. Dancers under 18 can create an account in studio provided their parent or guardian is present.

What to expect for the first class?

Classes are 45-minutes long. Typically, we begin with a warm-up, move on to turn patterns, basic footwork, lead follow tips, and refocus with arm styling, and finally having fun while you dance.

What if I can’t do everything in the class?

One of the best things about our system is that you will be assigned to your dance level. With the ability to adjust your level as you work through them. The class can suit each dancer’s abilities. With every class comes increased confidence and strength, so we encourage first timers to start with our private lessons.

Dance Levels

How do dance levels work?

We have four dance levels depending on your dance experience. To move up from our Level 1, students must pass a dance assessment. The first assessment is free and the second will cost $25 (free for VIP members).
